Your Mission
The Director of Membership Care will lead the strategic engagement and development of CADSI's relationships with its membership, with a particular focus on small and medium enterprise (SME) members and potential members. This role requires an innovative and strategic leader to enhance the value propositions for member companies in the defence, security, and cyber sectors. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the Director will drive initiatives to strengthen member satisfaction, engagement, and growth.
Responsibilities
Strategic Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic journey map for membership engagement.
- Create tailored growth strategies specifically designed for SMEs.
- Collaborate with CADSI partners to streamline processes and remove friction in member interactions.
Member Value Communication:
- Work closely with CADSI staff to clearly articulate and communicate the full value of CADSI membership to potential and existing members.
- Develop and manage a content strategy to ensure that all CADSI platforms are optimized for member engagement and utilization.
Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with SME members.
- Identify and engage potential SME members, driving membership growth.
- Oversee the creation and execution of SME-focused programs and services, ensuring alignment with CADSI’s strategic objective.
Member Engagement and Success:
- Drive SME member engagement and satisfaction by identifying and anticipating their needs, delivering customized solutions.
- Oversee the SME Committee operations, ensuring effective management and delivery of content.
- Implement a paced and tailored introduction process for new members to maximize their onboarding experience and utilization of CADSI offerings.
Digital Engagement and Data Management:
- Enhance member engagement with CADSI’s digital systems beyond event registration, promoting
- continuous interaction.
- Improve the accuracy and comprehensiveness of individual member data to personalize communications and enhance value delivery.
Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in business, communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in leading and/or delivering a portfolio of value-added services for a corporate, member-based organization with a high percentage of corporate members that are small/medium businesses SME) (e.g. businesses under 250 employees).
- Proven skills in SME engagement, member relations, customer care/service, business development or small-business advocacy.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with a track record of developing and implementing successful engagement strategies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate value propositions clearly.
- Proficiency in project management and budgeting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
- General operational business and government relations knowledge in the defence, security, or cyber industries is an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.

- Project Management: Proficiency in managing multiple projects, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines within budget constraints.
Compensation
$90,000-$100,000 CAD
Your Working Environment
You will work in a newly renovated, open-concept and climate-controlled office environment in downtown Ottawa. We have flexible hours that combine in-office and remote-based work, depending on our event production timetable and other projects. Your adjustable standing desk, ergonomic chair, and laptop are ready for you.
Overtime, particularly in producing CANSEC, and local travel may be required on occasion.
Regular team-building activities keep us energized and learning from each other away from the office.
