Quaze Technologies and Vatn Systems partner to deliver wireless power for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles
Quaze Technologies, the creator of wide surface wireless power transfer, has entered into a strategic development agreement with Vatn Systems, leading defense technology company building autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) for the US military and allies. The partnership marks a breakthrough in underwater robotics by enabling fully autonomous, remote wireless charging in the most challenging maritime environments.
Quaze’s wirelessly powered unmanned charging technology recharges any robot in any environment without human intervention. The company’s latest product generation, the QU6, features modular, robot agnostic receivers and transmitters designed for seamless integration and unmatched resilience in remote operations.
Vatn’s AUVs are low-cost, high-performance autonomous systems designed for extended sub-surface missions, delivering scalable maritime capability through mass deployment at a fraction of traditional costs. The underwater drones are equipped with advanced navigation software that performs reliably in environments that are GPS-denied, vision obscured, and communications compromised. However, traditional recharging methods using physical connectors have proven unreliable and costly in the maritime domain.
Through this collaboration, Quaze will remove the requirement for physical connectors by integrating its wireless charging receiver into Vatn’s Skelmir S-6 AUVs. The platforms will recharge autonomously via a remotely located wide surface wireless power docking point, removing the operator from threats, significantly extending operational endurance, and reducing maintenance overhead. Additionally, Quaze and Vatn will also be working on developing further native underwater charging solutions that advance the capabilities of AUVs in maritime environments.
Xavier Bidaut, CEO of Quaze Technologies said, “This collaboration pushes the boundaries of AUV operations by removing the failure point of charging connectors and eliminating the need for human intervention.” He added, “With our next generation QU6 charging ecosystem, we are delivering true autonomy and uninterrupted endurance in the maritime domain. We’re excited to work with Vatn on this groundbreaking initiative.”
Nelson Mills, CEO of Vatn Systems said, “Our collaboration with Quaze reflects Vatn’s commitment to leading the industry in deploying innovative capabilities for our customers and redefining what’s possible for the future of AUVs. The partnership represents a major advancement in autonomous maritime robotics and will enable scalable, resilient and cost-effective underwater operations.”
