OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) for a multi-year training program in support of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s (RMN) Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program. The initiative will strengthen operational readiness and long-term sustainment capabilities across all five LCSs.
The Maharaja Lela-class LCS is based on the French Gowind 2500 corvette design and is the largest and most modern surface combatant in the RMN. LUNAS, a Malaysian shipyard, is responsible for the construction and delivery of the vessels.
Building on OSI’s proven global track record of delivering naval training programs, this initiative reinforces OSI’s commitment to delivering not only advanced navigation systems but also the expertise required to operate and sustain them effectively.
The scope of the program includes:
OSI has extensive experience in delivering naval training programs worldwide. Recent initiatives include delivery of IBS operator and maintainer training to the Royal Canadian Navy’s Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessel fleet and training to the United States Navy Littoral Combat Ship program. Further, to enhance the classroom experience, OSI now offers IBS Training Simulators, a virtual training environment enabling operators and technicians to train on system functionality, troubleshooting, and maintenance without requiring live ship systems.
The training initiative reinforces OSI’s role as a trusted partner in naval programs worldwide, providing integrated solutions that extend beyond system delivery to include lifecycle support, training, and capacity building.
