ECPINS 6.4 Receives New MED & UK MER Certification

• Certification represents the highest standard for shipborne electronic navigation systems
• Certification conducted by a designated notified body
• Applies to ECPINS 6.4 and its associated systems, including Radar, AIS, and INTS

August 19, 2024, Burnaby, BC – OSI Maritime Systems is pleased to announce that ECPINS 6.4 has received International Maritime Organization (IMO) certification under the EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED) and UK Marine Equipment Regulations (MER).

This certification represents the highest standard for shipborne electronic navigation systems. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) publishes and maintains the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention along with equipment regulations and performance standards. This certification, conducted by a designated notified body, applies to ECPINS 6.4 and its associated systems, including Radar, AIS, and OSI’s Integrated Navigation and Tactical System (INTS).

Among ECPINS 6.4 capabilities is an enhancement Automatic Identification System (AIS) that supports sending and receiving a range of standard AIS Application Specific Messages (ASM). Also new in ECPINS 6.4 is a Relative Velocity Calculator tool and support for Maritime Safety Information. In addition, OSI’s INTS is now compliant with the latest edition of the Integrated Navigation System regulations.
