metaAIR® Laser Glare Protection Eyewear Recognized at the World’s Largest International Design Awards in Italy

Halifax, Nova Scotia – A’ Design Award & Competition has announced that Metamaterial Technologies Inc. (MTI), a leader in smart materials and photonics, has received the prestigious Silver A’ Design Award in Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design Category, for its metaAIR laser glare protection eyewear.

The A’ Design Award & Competition is the world’s largest and most diffused international design awards. Entries are evaluated by an internationally influential jury panel composed of established scholars, prominent press members, creative design professionals and experienced entrepreneurs. The Silver A’ Design Award is a prestigious award given to top 5% percentile designs that have attained an exemplary level of perfection in design.

metaAIR laser glare protection eyewear has been created as a defensive tool against harmful and dangerous laser strikes. Over the last five years there have been around 40,000 laser incidents reported to the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), the UK Civil Aviation Authority and Transport Canada. The eyewear offers the world’s best combination of transparency, protection and color fidelity. The premium holographic optical filter has been scientifically engineered to provide protection from harmful green laser light and has been co-developed with Airbus and tested by pilots. MTI has also developed a partnership with Covestro, one of the world’s leading companies for high-tech polymers, who supplies a custom photopolymer film for the manufacturing of metaAIR. In 2018, MTI signed a global distribution agreement with Satair to bring the eyewear to all aviation and military markets.
