ATLAS ELEKTRONIK CANADA Ltd AWARDED CONTRACT TO SUPPORT

VICTORIA, BC (13 MAY 2014) - ATLAS ELEKTRONIK CANADA Ltd has been awarded a contract from its parent company, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH (Bremen, Germany), to oversee the project management and delivery of ‘Made in Canada’ components in support of the international market. Rick Gerbrecht, President and CEO of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK CANADA Ltd confirmed that “this contract award demonstrates ATLAS ELEKTRONIK’s commitment in supporting Canadian industry to engage partners and establish key capabilities and domestic employment programs, as well as and international export opportunities.” Gerbrecht further notes that “ATLAS ELEKTRONIK CANADA will be pleased to announce the identity of supply chain companies when decisions are confirmed via ongoing competitive tender process.” ATLAS ELEKTRONIK CANADA Ltd will be working closely with the Federal Government agencies ACOA (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) and WED (Western Economic Diversification) to continue to identify companies to provide goods and services to current and future international programs, including providing solutions for operations, market opportunities, and the promotion of Canadian innovation. To support this claim, Gerbrecht also stated that “ATLAS ELEKTRONIK CANADA Ltd will be making announcements in 2014 concerning Canadian R&D effort to support international programming.” The combined value of contract awards for 2014 is in excess of CAD 10M and includes components for both Submarine and Ship solutions ranging from low frequency acoustic projectors, towed cables, sonobuoys and mechanical slip rings. Representatives from the ATLAS ELEKTRONIK Global Procurement team will be meeting with suppliers during CANSEC 2014 (28 – 29 May) in Ottawa to identify additional international opportunities. Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems Inc (UEMS) of Dartmouth Nova Scotia was awarded a contract for the production of acoustic projectors in mid-2013.
