New Opportunity: Human Resources Business Partner
The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) is looking for a highly organized and motivated Human Resources Business Partner to join our dynamic team in downtown Ottawa.
Status: Term Employment with initial term of 12 months, Part-Time (2-3 days per week)
Salary: $45-$55 per hour

Your Mission
The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) is seeking a proven professional and experienced Human Resources Business Partner. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the part-time HR Business Partner is a well-suited professional with a generalist background who enjoys working across many facets of human resources. The position closely mirrors an HR generalist function, encompassing recruitment, employee relations, reporting, administrative support, and ongoing guidance to leaders. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dependable Human Resource expert to make a mark on a small but growing organization. This is a newly created position that will allow the candidate to leverage their expertise to improve the organization.
Core Responsibilities
The HR Business Partner will be responsible for managing this critically important department.
As a CADSI HR, your work will include:
- Assist with recruiting, selecting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees; prepare necessary documents for personnel files.
- Advise on Organizational and Human Resource strategy
- Advise executives on the interpretation and application of company policies, and Ontario employment laws, including matters related to but not limited to regulations, employee relations and health & safety.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labour law, legislative changes, or any event/topic impacting the company and occupational health and safety.
- Advise executives on compensation discussions, disciplinary measures and other employment matters.
- Manage HR administrative processes across the employee lifecycle, including processing new hires, job changes, and terminations within HR systems.
- Represent the company on committees such as H&S.
- Build relationships at all management levels and with third parties.
- Handle complex and sensitive employment and labour-related cases.
- Organize, create, and distribute reports as required.
- Administer employee medical and group benefits enrollment throughout the employee lifecycle
- Perform other tasks and projects as required.
This role values initiative, strong writing, steady time management, and a willingness to learn. You will support CADSI member/customer queries and help the team keep work organized and on schedule.
Your Experience and Qualifications
As a creative and resourceful individual, the ideal candidate will have superior knowledge, skills and be able to demonstrate proven capabilities and experiences in successfully managing a high-performing Human Resource position. This individual will possess the following qualifications:
- Mature and experienced HR professional capable of advising executives while supporting day-to-day human resource tasks
- Excellent knowledge of labour laws, practices and regulations, especially related to Ontario Non-Profits or events industry
- Ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, synthesize, and write effectively.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills for working with internal and external contacts.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Required)
- Additional relevant certifications and education is an asset
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
Compensation and Benefits
You will work three full days in the office per week and gain hands-on experience with active marketing campaigns and (exhibit & sponsorship) sales program development. The role provides learning opportunities, exposure to national events, and support from a friendly and collaborative team.
