CADSI reacts to new measures targeting Canadian industries
OTTAWA - SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 - CADSI, the proud voice of over 1,000 defence, security and emerging technology companies across Canada, today issued the following statement in response to the Carney government’s announcement of new measures to protect, build, and transform Canadian strategic industries:
Today’s announcement represents a fundamental shift in how federal procurement will be leveraged, and federal supports deployed, to benefit Canadian companies – including those working in the defence sector.
We have long called on the government to unabashedly preference Canadian defence products, services, and technologies – as our allies do – while helping homegrown companies scale and succeed both at home and abroad.
Many of the measures announced today are in line with those objectives. CADSI will spend the coming weeks working closely with government and our members to better understand how these new policies, programs, and initiatives can benefit the defence industrial base.
