ONE MORE DAY TO SECURETECH2013

Ottawa -- A recent string of disasters—the floods in Alberta, the derailment and explosion in Lac Mégantic and the deadly bus-train crash in Ottawa—focus increased attention on public safety, emergency management and security.

SecureTech 2013 is a two-day showcase at the Ottawa Convention Centre on October 29-30 that is devoted to public safety, emergency management and security. The event is organized by CADSI, representing more than 975 companies in Canada’s defence and security sector. The event features more than 140 exhibitors, 2,500 participants and leading experts from the public and private sectors focused on the latest strategies, best practices and policy insights.

Media are invited to:
• view the tradeshow with innovative technologies for emergency responders
• view 17 presentations at the Innovation, and Emergency Responders’ Stages
• attend the remarks by:

o Keynote Speaker the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Steven Blaney – Tuesday 9:30-10:00 a.m.
o Keynote Speaker the Minister of Transport Lisa Raitt – Tues. 3:30-4:00 p.m.
o Mike Cabana, RCMP Deputy Commissioner– Tues. 1:15-1:45
o Dale McFee, Deputy Minister, Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice – Wed. 1:15-1:45

Note that the four conference panel sessions are not open to media.

Media need to register to view the showcase, and need to arrive to register a half-hour ahead in advance of covering a Minister, at the SecureTech registration desk on the 3rd floor of the Ottawa Convention Centre or on-line beforehand at https://www.securetechcanada.ca.
