The Mackenzie Institute is pleased to host “Canada’s Defence Perspectives 2020-2050: Recapitalization and the Canadian Forces” from March 29-30, 2016 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. The conference will engage military and civilian officials of the Department of National Defence, the defence and security industry, and academia in a series of expert panels to inform recommendations for future Canadian defence planning. Day One begins with a global threat assessment, followed by a discussion of the role Canada should play in the world and key considerations for a Canadian Strategic Defence Review. Day Two involves conversation of the current material state of the Canadian Forces and future equipment requirements, as well as the future of defence procurement planning.
