Mathers Logistics' parent I. H. Mathers celebrates 150 years of continued success

Based in Atlantic Canada, I. H. Mathers (est. 1872) specializes in providing logistics, marine and personnel services for their clients throughout the world. And this year IHM is celebrating 150 years of operations.

Isaac H. Mathers of Newry, Ireland started his shipping agency in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1872, and the company remains family-owned and operated to this day. With the 5th generation of Mathers now at the helm, I. H. Mathers is focused on continuing their legacy of taking care of their clients and navigating complex challenges.

“It’s important to have a logistics partner that plans ahead,” says President Harry Isaac Mathers. “And this anniversary shows that we’ve been doing just that for 150 years.”

Along with providing logistics and marine support for clients around the world, they’ve been supplying personnel for the majority of Canada’s largest marine-based projects for more than 40 years.

“Quality service and continuous improvement are the secrets to I. H. Mathers remarkable success, both of which are driven by our expert and dedicated staff,” says CEO Brian Lane. “Now that we’re celebrating 150 years, we’ve come to say that our employees don’t just work here, they make history every day.”

With supply chains across the world experiencing intense challenges, combined with continued economic uncertainty, I. H. Mathers relies on its rich history to help them navigate the future. “Unfortunately, over the last 150 years, this isn’t our first pandemic,” says Chairman Harry Isaac Mathers Sr. “But history shows that if we stay focused on making good decisions and taking care of our people, they’ll take care of our clients. And that’s what will keep us around for another 150.”
