Canadian Laminated Shims are Entering Ukraine and Belarus

22.08.2016 – Cambridge, Canada – Providence Group, a Canadian aerospace consulting company has signed an exclusive agreement to represent Shimco in Ukraine and Belarus. Shimco is a worldwide leader in the manufacture of precision parts and gap management solutions, such as laminated and edge-bonded shims, tapers and spacers, in materials.

Shimco is a major supplier of shims to Bombardier and Embraer. Shimco is also an important supplier to Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Airbus, Moog, GE, Magellan and runs its operations out of Cambridge, Canada.

Laminated, edge-bonded and tapered shims are “peelable,” small and highly accurate machined parts. They are intended for the use in aviation, defense, nuclear, heavy equipment and other industrial markets, built to customer specifications. Using high-tolerance CNC milling machines and horizontal lathes, shims could go from several millimetres to several microns. All shims are put through rigorous ISO 2008: AS9100C certified quality control program.

Belarus and Ukraine have long traditions of manufacturing aerospace, space, automotive or heavy equipment products.

According to Volodymyr Paslavskyi, president of Providence Group, “Belarus and Ukraine are the right markets for all type of “peelable” shims as they can potentially reduce significant expenses of manufacturers and bring-in new efficiencies into their production cycles by eliminating unnecessary grinding-down of large and small parts. Now Ukraine and Belarus will have access to the world renowned Shimco shims that are used widely on western platforms.

Providence Group will be introducing “peelable” shims to these markets during AVIASVIT XXI 2016, an aviation and space salon for Ukrainian and Eastern European countries. The salon will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, from 11 to 14 October 2016.

Providence Group specializes in providing business-to-business (B2B) and consulting services, and represents aerospace, security and defense companies from around the world in Ukraine, Belarus and in Canada. For its clients, Providence Group presents strategy, plan and looks at products and services from the perspective of buyers, which allows our group to set goals, prioritize and assess results more accurately.
