Mission systems specialists partner for Canadian Search and Rescue solution

Ottawa, May 26, 2015 – For Immediate Release

Kongsberg Gallium and CRITICAL Software have entered into a strategic partnership to address the needs of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Search and Rescue Mission Management System (SMMS).

As recognized global market leaders in their fields, the two companies will be leveraging their extensive experience in the delivery of complex, integrated solutions to provide the RCAF with leading-edge planning, command and control and post-mission analysis via a proven, intuitive platform that has been successfully deployed with a number of International Search and Rescue (SAR) Customers.

The Kongsberg Gallium/CRITICAL Software team will build on over 25 years’ experience in the architecture, delivery and support of advanced, mission-critical solutions to meet the unique requirements of the Canadian Search and Rescue Mission Management Program.

The team’s unparalleled domain experience will significantly reduce program risk through the delivery of proven, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components. The flexible and open, modular, ‘system of systems’ approach will facilitate the incorporation of additional sensory inputs and software modules in order to future-proof the resulting solution and allow for capability upgrades and enhancements.

Leveraging Kongsberg Gallium’s domestic presence, the team will deliver and support the solution from Kongsberg Gallium’s Kanata headquarters.

“The partnership between Kongsberg Gallium and CRITICAL Software offers the RCAF a truly world-class solution leveraging the proven capabilities of two industry-leading organizations in this field.  As a Canadian company with the backing of the $3Bn KONGSBERG Group, we are very excited about the agreement with CRITICAL Software and the opportunity to architect a Canadian solution that can serve as the benchmark for SAR operations globally”, said Ranald McGillis, President of Kongsberg Gallium.

João Carreira, Ph.D, Co-Founder and President at CRITICAL Software, said “We’re delighted to announce this new partnership, which will enable us to bring our Search and Rescue expertise to the internationally-recognised Royal Canadian Air Force. Our capabilities will enable more cost-effective and efficient fulfilment of Search and Rescue responsibilities, building on our proven technologies which deliver faster incident response times, greater risk awareness, better co-ordination and management and improved situational awareness.”
