Weatherhaven Awarded US $5.6-million Boeing Contract To Support Canada’s Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopter Program

(Burnaby, B.C, Canada) — Weatherhaven, one of the world’s leading providers of re-deployable shelter systems, has been awarded a USD $5.6M contract by Boeing to modify and convert existing Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) shelters to portable repair and maintenance Special Equipment Shelters for Canada’s CH-147 helicopters.

The Special Equipment Shelter system will be used to provide support and test equipment for the repair and maintenance capability in support of deployed operations as part of the Canadian Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopter (MHLH) Program. The CH-147F Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopter (MHLH) is a multi-mission helicopter that will help meet Canada’s obligations domestically and abroad.

The CH-147F fleet of helicopters will be operated out of Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, in Petawawa, Ontario. Weatherhaven’s portable repair and maintenance shelters will be trucked and/or airlifted to locations as needed to meet Canadian Forces land-based operations requirements.

“We are delighted to be working with Boeing to provide this important service to the Canadian military,” said Ray Castelli, the CEO of Weatherhaven. “This is further proof that Canadian manufacturers have both the talent and design excellence to provide cutting-edge products for the aerospace and military markets.”

The Canadian government awarded Boeing a contract for fifteen Medium-to-Heavy-Lift Helicopters in June 2009. Aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013.

The CH-147F missions may include air mobile operations, special operations, casualty evacuation, tactical transport, medical evacuation, logistical transport, aid to civil power, counter-drug operations, counter-terrorism operations, humanitarian assistance and peace-keeping support. The helicopters — and Weatherhaven’s shelter systems — will operate in extremes of weather on deployed operations throughout the world during day and night conditions.
