Discovery Air Defence Services surpasses 40,000 Combat Support Hours
Montreal, QC, September 5, 2013 – Discovery Air Defence Services (DADS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Discovery Air Inc., has surpassed 40,000 flying hours in support of the Canadian Forces. This marks a tremendous milestone, and is particularly impressive given the company’s 100% accident-free record and ongoing serviceability rates in excess of 98%.
Paul Bouchard, President of DADS, said “We are very proud of the excellent, safe and robust work we do supporting Canada’s frontline military units. Since 2005, we have delivered over 40,000 hours of training to the Air Force, Navy and Army in locations across North America. The Canadian military is able to save money by contracting their need for combat support services, while still maintaining the highest possible operational readiness posture. As military forces around the world look for cost effective ways to reduce their training expenses, we believe that our highly qualified team is well positioned to expand our services internationally.”
Former Squadron Commander, Christopher “Hammy” Hamilton, flew the 40,000 hour while on a mission in Cold Lake, AB conducting Air Combat Manoeuvers (ACM) with 409 Squadron. The Fighter Weapons Instructor and CF-18 reserve pilot stated “This milestone is a direct result of the culture within our company – highly qualified pilots, technicians and support staff working together to provide real world training for the Forces. It is something we are all very committed to and take tremendous pride in.”
