CADSI welcomes passage of Bill C-59 into law

Ottawa (June 25, 2019) Christyn Cianfarani, President and CEO of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries,today issued the following statement regarding Bill C-59 (An Act respecting national security matters), which received Royal Assent on June 21. 

“Keeping up with the speed of cyber – whether in the boardroom or on the battlefield – is a daunting task. With C-59 now law, the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) can move forward with new legal authorities to conduct active cyber operations for the first time in Canadian history.  

For CADSI, the development of sovereign Canadian cyber-defence capabilities is a top priority. Building effective collaboration between Canadian industry and government to support this new mission will help keep Canadians safe and deter our adversaries. Canada’s extremely capable cyber-defence industry looks forward to engaging with CSE on this update to Canada's national security architecture.”
